Sisserou Parrot (Imperial Amazon)......... (Google it)

This is a commissioned piece I did for a fellow Dominican who fell in love with 'Leap' [link] and wanted to buy it but it already had it's owner. Her excitement made me excited and I did this one in 3 days.

It was quite a head ache because I don't just copy pictures onto the canvas, I like to put myself in the bird's feathers and think with a bird brain ... lol

But I enjoyed it to the max. I hope it makes her as happy as it made me.

This is really amazing! I'm really impressed how you did manage the smallest details to look so realistic.

The head, and how it's tilted to reach the fruit placed on the claw is so accurate. And I love how the feathers are placed on the head and getting bigger to complete the whole body of the bird. Also the addition of yellow and blue + the green reflection of the plants on the feather give more motion to the whole form.

You did a great job combining variety of colors. It's sometimes hard to adjust this load of bright colors into one painting.

And again, I'm really impressed! Great job.

I absolutely love your use of colour, in all your works, but this one especially. Something about it keeps my eye going in circles and looking at it for ages. You've captured this perfectly, and even though the colours are unrealistic in places, it looks completely real. I envy your work so much!!

That's very nice of you to say. :) Thanks a lot. I wanna be able to paint more realistically but at the same time I find real life to be a bit dull, so I usually avoid colours that are, how could I put it, dry? I think you understand.
